What is Dyslexia?
The Delphi Study (2025) provides us with the most up-to-date definition for dyslexia.
- Dyslexia is one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Dyslexia is a set of processing difficulties that affect the acquisition of reading and spelling and other skills, such as mathematics, reading comprehension, or learning another language.
- The most commonly observed cognitive impairment in dyslexia is a difficulty in phonological processing. However, phonological difficulties do not fully explain the variability that is observed.
- Working memory, processing speed, and orthographic skills can contribute to the impact of dyslexia.
- Dyslexia frequently co-occurs with one or more other developmental difficulties, including developmental language disorder, dyscalculia, ADHD, and developmental coordination disorder.

Assessment Process
1) A Visual Difficulties Questionnaire is conducted. Key background information is gathered from parents, teachers (where possible) and the learner themselves.
2) In-person full diagnostic assessment takes between 3-4 hours including short breaks.
3) Comprehensive report issued within 21 days after assessments are completed.
4) If requested, 30 minute online meeting to discuss report findings.
It is essential that the learner has had an eye examination within the two years prior to the assessment.
Assessment cost £575.
